Endorsed by The Arc of the United States, HealthMatters is a nutrition and wellness course developed for adults with intellectual/ developmental disabilities (I/DD). This class meets three times per week, includes an hour of guided academic work and an hour of aerobic exercise at the Witham Family YMCA. With a generous sponsorship from Witham, participants are given the opportunity to meet with a wellness coach or nutritionist weekly during the twelve week course.
HealthMatters began at The Arc of Greater Boone County in June 2016, and so far participants have lost a grand total of 230 pounds, as a result of their hard work and commitment to a healthier lifestyle.
