The Arc of Greater Boone County (The Arc GBC) has a proud history of service, spanning several decades and touching the lives of countless individuals.
Our dedicated team is committed to providing comprehensive support, advocacy, and resources tailored to the unique needs of each person.
We aim to empower individuals with disabilities through our various programs. Our community initiatives also foster independence and promote a sense of belonging within the community.
Our History
In 1956, a small group of parents challenged society’s limitations for people with disabilities. They joined forces to create new opportunities for their loved ones.
These parents’ efforts laid the foundation of The Arc of GBC.
They had a mission.
Officially incorporated in 1970, The Arc of GBC has undergone several iterations over the years.

The Arc of GBC is proud to be part of an established, three-level network. They are dedicated to advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And so are we!
This connection ensures that powerful, national resources and expertise support our local work.
We are an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The Arc of Greater Boone County is a local chapter (#1793) of The Arc of Indiana and The Arc of the United States. These respected organizations have championed the rights of people with disabilities for over 60 years.
