MainStreet Marketing Enterprises (MME) is a for-profit social enterprise wholly owned by The Arc of Greater Boone County (Arc GBC). We are a direct employer of people with disabilities who receive services through The Arc GBC.
Our primary work is manufacturing Mr. Canary® birdfeeders. Mr. Canary® is a national consumer brand owned by MME and our products are sold at brick-and-mortar and online retailers across the country.
Mr. Canary® was founded in 1995 and began as a sheltered work contractor. The Arc of GBC acquired the Mr. Canary® brand in 2023 and has transformed it into a competitively paid direct employer of people with disabilities.
MME provides a variety of work opportunities, including our Manufacturing Intern, Manufacturing Associate, Administrative Assistant, and Manufacturing Coach positions.
We provide an opportunity for employees to earn income while gaining the job skills necessary to gain community-integrated employment. With this program, employees are paid a graduated hourly wage tied to individual productivity.
